Great addition to my library of old camping books. I was amazed to see information I just discovered after over 50years of painful trial and error.

I had this book as a child and loved reading it. I lost my original copy and I bought this one to bring back the memories. This is a great book and I am very happy to have found it again!

the movers lost this when i was growing up and had some good info, tho the cpr may be outdated

I can remember reading this book as a teen and becoming involved in camping with my buddies. The survival section was spot on about making shelters and cooking utensils. We had a very large lake with islands near us and we'd do island survival camping in the summer. This book was invaluable in keeping us from sunburn and insect bites. Now that my son is a Boy Scout he's actually used this with some of the other scouting guides. I haven't seen anything comparable today. It's a collectors piece.

I had this book when I was a kid and spent hours and hours reading and learning. I love the pictures and how useful it is in its simplicity, and how easy of a read it is with for any age. I'm probably a little biased with sentimentality but it is definitely a very good book and although a little dated much of the basics of camping really haven't changed that much.

Albeit a bit dated, however, the charming art, a well deserved emphasis on American Scouting, this book was a happy trip down memory lane as I had this book many years ago and loved it and referred to it prior to many camping trips. However, I paid far more than the cover price to recapture the memories it generated long ago. An excellent book for any child or teen interested in the great outdoors. Includes chapters and illustrations on campsite and equipment selection, cooking, how to identify birds, trees, leaves, animals and care of the enviroment.

what I expected. not the 'best'. they advertised that it was a previous library copy and there are signs of that, but only on the spine; nobody penciled inside, or anything like that (yay!)

The book that i recieved was in excellent shape ! i already had a copy of this book but it was missing the last page and back cover. I wanted a complete book looked it up on Amazon.com and found some for sale put in a price and 2 days later there was a confirmation for a sale. suprised the heck out of me. I can and have sat down with my grandson and we went through the book and tied some knots and are hoping that come next spring we can use it to do some camping. thanks
